In this episode of Breaking the Cycle, Laziena sits down with Yanet Dominguez for a conversation about healing, legacy, and what it really means to break generational patterns without erasing where we come from. Yanet is a first-generation Cuban immigrant, a pediatric oncology nurse, and the author of Searching for the Silver Lining. In this episode, she shares her lived experience of growing up between addiction, incarceration, and unconditional love, and how her grandmother became the steady presence that helped her imagine a different life. Together, they explore what happens when women stop abandoning themselves, how peace becomes recognizable only after chaos, and why forgiveness creates space for joy without denying pain. This conversation moves through immigration, family loyalty, codependency, self-devotion, aging, grief, and the quiet freedom that comes when you stop chasing relationships and start choosing yourself. This is not a conversation about fixing the past.

The content was so great that re-recording would have taken away from the authenticity of our discussion. Our topic of taking control of your own healing was impactful that we needed 2 segments! We hope that you can listen and enjoy our very jovial friend as she shares her very astounding journey of getting to the other side of being healed and tune in next week for part 2!
